Flash HUNTR/SEEKR

Flash the firmware to your scanner in your browser. No software to install.

1

Choose your device

Not sure which one you have? The board name is printed on the circuit board and on the seller's page.

2

Connect and pick the port

Plug the board into your computer with a USB-C data cable, then press the button. Your browser shows a list of ports: choose the one for your board.

Port not showing up?
  • Use a USB-C data cable (some power-bank cables are charge-only) and try another USB port.
  • Put the board in download mode: unplug it, hold BOOT, plug it in, release BOOT, then try again.
  • If your list is empty, tick and try again.
  • Windows may need the CP210x or CH340 USB driver. Linux may need sudo usermod -aG dialout $USER (then log out and in).

Flash

Flashing replaces the software on the board and resets its saved settings. Logs already saved on the board are kept. Do not unplug the board while it is flashing.

Help

Which browser do I need?

A desktop version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Opera. Firefox and Safari cannot talk to USB serial ports, and phones and tablets generally cannot flash this way. The page also has to be opened over https.

The browser says "Failed to connect" or "No port selected"
  • Close anything else using the port (a serial monitor, the Arduino IDE, another browser tab).
  • Use a USB-C data cable and try another USB port or, if you can, a port directly on the computer instead of a hub.
  • Put the board in download mode: unplug the cable, hold the BOOT button, plug the cable in, release BOOT, then press Choose port & connect again.
  • Choose a slower speed under Advanced (115200).
"This is a different chip than the device you chose"

The connected board reports a different chip from the device selected in step 1. Check you picked the right device, or that you plugged in the board you meant to. The flasher will not write a firmware file to a chip it was not built for.

Flashing finished but the board shows nothing

Unplug the cable, wait a few seconds and plug it in again. If it still shows nothing, run the flash again with Erase the whole flash first ticked (under Advanced).

Is my data safe? Does anything get uploaded?

The firmware file is downloaded from this site into your browser and written straight to your board over USB. Nothing is sent from your board or computer to this site.

Prefer the command line?

You can flash the same files with esptool: esptool --chip esp32c6 --port YOUR_PORT --baud 460800 write-flash 0x0 FILE.bin. The user guides explain it step by step.
